Overview

As a Co-Founder & Lead Mobile Developer at VIPICASH AS, I was responsible for developing and maintaining the VIPICASH mobile application, a secure and user-friendly money transfer platform. The project aimed to simplify cross-border transactions, offering a more accessible solution for international money transfers.

While working on VIPICASH, I navigated the complexities of fintech development, from integrating secure payment systems to collaborating with backend engineers. This experience taught me the importance of testing, version control, and regulatory compliance, as well as the challenges of maintaining a growing fintech product.

Key Responsibilities & Achievements

1. Mobile App Development & Fintech Integrations

• Designed and developed the VIPICASH mobile application for both iOS and Android using React Native, ensuring a smooth cross-platform experience.
• Implemented Redux for state management, improving the scalability and efficiency of the app.
• Integrated Stripe for payment processing, ensuring secure transactions and compliance with financial standards.

2. Backend Collaboration & API Implementation

• Worked alongside the backend team, helping implement REST API integrations for transactions, user authentication, and account management.
• Assisted in debugging API-related issues and ensuring a smooth connection between the mobile frontend and backend.
• Tested and optimized API calls, improving response times and data handling.

3. Mastering Git & CI/CD

• Used GitHub for version control, implementing Git workflows to streamline development and team collaboration.
• Managed code reviews, pull requests, and branch management, ensuring high-quality code.
• Helped integrate CI/CD pipelines on GitHub Actions, automating the deployment process.

Challenges & Lessons Learned

• Fintech Compliance & Regulations – VIPICASH ultimately shut down due to regulatory challenges, which showed me how crucial early compliance planning is in fintech.
• Testing Is Non-Negotiable – The frustration of fixing repeated bugs and regressions made me advocate for early testing strategies in all future projects.
• Balancing Development with Business Goals – While I loved building features, I learned that a startup needs strong business execution alongside technical innovation.
